Holidays at the Farm

The nostalgic Zillertalbahn steam train experience, which takes you through the lush landscape of the Zillertal and past our apartments, is an attraction on the move.

Why not pay a visit to Tyrol’s oldest private brewery and sample the delicious “Zillertal Bier”? Other highly interesting and worthwhile attractions include a gold mine, a working dairy in Mayrhofen, our zoo and the Zillertal Regional Museum.

And don’t miss out on one of Europe’s most beautiful flying areas: dare to see things from a different perspective on a paragliding trip.

Enjoy your favourite game on an 18-hole championship course, featuring a top-class practice facility with covered tees and short-game area against the breathtaking backdrop of the Zillertal mountains.

Our guests may be particularly interested in the distance membership of the golf club for adults. More details on this and other important information is available here:

Nature's Ice Palace on the Hintertux Glacier is one of the world's unique natural treasures and an ideal year-round destination for a family excursion. On guided tours, visitors are invited to enter the wondrous world far below the ski slopes and explore a glacial crevasse with magical ice stalactites, giant sparkling ice crystals, frozen waterfalls and even a glacial lake.

The Schlegeis Alpine Road starts in the idyllic mountaineering village of Ginzling and takes you to one of the most scenic spots in Zillertal, where you will see the Schlegeis dam wall and the reservoir with the same name at 1,800 metres above sea level. Along the approx. 13 kilometre route, you can expect hairpin bends, natural stone tunnels, raging waterfalls and many a stunning view of the glacier.

In a vein of marble that extends south from Hintertux to the Spannagelhaus lies the Spannagel Cave network with its numerous natural wonders. Throughout the year, professional guides show visitors around the section of the spectacular marble show cave that is open to the public.

A drive along the Zillertaler Höhenstraße high mountain road is an experience in itself. It is one of Austria's most beautiful alpine roads and leads up to 2,020 metres above sea level. The road was originally used as a service road for farmers to help them manage their alpine pastures and to improve access for building river barriers. Nowadays, it can be reached via five access roads and is a highlight of any summer holiday in Zillertal.

Tyrolean glassworks in Kufstein

In the Riedel glassworks, visitors can observe the traditional craftsmanship first hand and watch glass being blown carefully into shape. The superb multimedia show "Sinnfonie" and the permanent exhibition outline the history of the art of glassblowing and of the family business.

Experience wood with all your senses in Fügen. On tours of the biomass cogeneration plant, you can learn all there is to know about renewable energy and the history of wood. During your visit, you can tuck into a tasty lunch or sip a coffee while admiring the views from the lofty SichtBar. The views of the Zillertal mountains are even better from the roof garden.

Austria’s smallest town

With just under 500 inhabitants, the quaint glass town of Rattenberg is the ideal place for a leisurely stroll, for sampling the local pastries or doing a spot of shopping. The many specialist shops dotted around the medieval alleyways offer a wide variety of traditional glassware. You can enjoy superb views of the town from the "Schlossberg" castle ruins on the hill. With the Augustine Museum and the annual theatre performance "Schlossbergspiele", Rattenberg has rightly earned its place as the cultural heart of the region.

The open-air museum in Kramsach features 37 original farmhouses from different valleys that depict rural life of the past. The museum also hosts various events, festivals, demonstrations and tours throughout the year.
